Rumors
From the outside, they look perfect. Their flawless relationship creates a quiet envy among her friends. You don’t know them too well; they are just a couple of kids that went to your high school. You say hi to each other when you run into them in your small town. You don’t think of the pair too much. You have your own life to deal with.
Things change when you hear a rumor.
I was out with some friends, drinking and dancing, having a great time. We see the couple with some friends across the dance floor. The two were holding each other tightly, laughing and smiling. They looked incredibly happy.They always look happy when they’re together. My friend noticed I was admiring the couple and leaned in close to me, “My friend in Austin would not stop talking about a guy she met at (named a university) at a party one weekend. She said she hooked up with a guy that played (said sport) and went to (our high school)… I don’t want to assume anything, but it couldn’t be anyone but him.
I paused for a second and went into instant denial. No. Just no. Unfortunately, the more I though about it, the more I realized it was the truth. Only one guy from that university , who plays that sport, who went to our high school exists in this world. A random girl from Austin wouldn’t lie about all those details, not knowing the girl she told actually knows the guy.
This shattered my mind. I mean, this isn’t the first time, but my mind continuously forgives the outside world for being so harsh and cruel. It forgets. This young couple has been together for almost two years. They love each other. But, he cheated. He has this great girl. She is incredibly smart, has her own life, independent, beautiful and motivated, yet, he seeks other girls. Yes, he is a scholarship athlete. Doesn’t mean he should have an excuse. In my opinion, he doesn’t deserve her at all. I hope she ends up realizing there’s something better out there for her and she breaks his heart.
I never rant about others but I felt like this needed to be shared. Do not throw important friendships or relationships away. Things like that cannot be bought and are incredibly special and rare. Some people go through their whole lives trying to find it. Some people call it rumor, but deep in my heart i know it is true.
